*Iranian-Canadian Composers of Toronto (ICOT): Maziar Heidari, Afarin Mansouri Tehrani, Keyan Emami, Pouya Hamidi, Saman Shahi. Five Tableaux from Khosro and Shirin is inspired by a famous poem by Nizami Ganjavi (1141–1209). It recounts the tragic love story of Sasanian king Khosro II and the Armenian princess Shirin, who was married off to become queen of Persia. In 2014, ICOT received a commission from the National Ballet You Dance program to create a short ballet based on this story, which is depicted in five scenes, each created by an individual member of ICOT.
